After reading these reviews, I was concerned that I had ordered from Lens.com. However, I was extremely satisfied with the process. I ordered on a Friday night after business had closed, and the order was shipped on Tuesday. (Monday was Memorial Day). I did pay for Fedex Next Day, and my order was received on Wednesday. I was not happy however, with the customer service. I sent an e-mail asking for status on Saturday, (they claim they are open) and never received a response. Overall, a great, problem free experience. Customer service could use alittle work though.

If I only had read your reviews prior ordering from Lens.com :-(
I ordered lenses on 2/7/2008 and, according to their web site, package was shiped od 2/8/2008. Until today (3/20/2008), I haven't received it, and also I cannot get their support "department" to inform me about reference ID of the package, so that I could track it from my end if something really went wrong.
I don't know what to do... Of course, payment was processed, first few days everything was fine - even their e-mails were fast and clean, with all required information. Now, I cannot get them to respond, I don't know what to do.
I can see there are some people here satisfied with lens.com. You have been lucky! After this, I think I will never ever even think of ordering from lens.com.

Sparknotes: Avoid, tremendous mismanagement.
I placed an order for Vertex Toric contacts on 1/13/08 and finally cancelled in Late February/Early March. The reason I waited so long for them to deliver was because I only began wearing contacts recently and was still comfortable with wearing glasses.
Their website says they usually deliver in 2 weeks. After 3 weeks had passed, I called to check on my order. I was informed that astigmatic lenses were backordered across the country. However, note that they did not inform me of the extemporaneous circumstance.
Every time I called them thereafter, I was asked to wait for a response in the future as they contacted the manufacturer. I see what they do as deferring responsibility to other companies, passing the buck, and buying more time for themselves. A company with good customer relations holds itself accountable to its customers.
I made a final call to them asking to cancel the order, where a representative told me they had to "see" whether they could actually cancel my order. I told them if my order was not received within a week I would have to request a chargeback through my cc company. I found that my order was cancelled on their status page later that week. I have yet to check whether I was actually charged for the lenses.
I proceeded to order from 1800contacts.com, where I was informed that the lenses were on back order. I was weary due to my previous experience, however I was relieved when I saw my order had been shipped a week later.
In sum, lens.com's representatives were polite enough, but I don't know what kind of business they're running if they don't even try to deliver on their services. I recall voicing my frustration with one of their reps, asking why they didn't inform their customers of delays, especially since it seems like a recurring issue. She could not answer my question directly. This company would probably make a good case study of failing management.

First time online order. Contacts seemed so easy to order online, I wondered why I hadn't done it sooner. Don't pay for fast shipping because you might get hosed for a month and a half like I did. Company has misleading handling fees and in-stock listings. I'll try somewhere else next time.

I wish I had checked this before ordering. I placed my order two weeks ago. Every time I check on the status of my order, I get a new story about the expected arrival. The last story was that they are on backorder and won't be in for a month. A call to my dr.'s office revealed that the manufacturer has these readily available. Now they refuse to cancel my order even though they are the ones who have deceived me. It is unbelievable. Do not order from them.

I had the worst experience of all. They DID NOT EVEN SHIP MY LENS! The tracking number they gave me from USPS was someone else's tracking number and they had no explanation. They would not credit my card or re-ship until 30 days had passed. Once 30 days had passed, they credited my account and wanted to re-charge me the exact same amount just to re-ship. They would not upgrade the shipping for free (Which I was PROMISED) and the customer service was virtually non-existent. One lady even said "what is your problem this time?" Hello? It's the same damn problem I've been calling about all month. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER order from there. I don't care how cheap it is. It should send you red flags. Run screaming in the other direction. Do whatever it takes but DO NOT order from here. *note- just lenses is the same company*

Well, here's another chump who is kicking himself for not reading these reviews beforehand. Yes, Lens.com is an awful, awful company. I made my first order in November and received a "RxDeclined" message with no other explanation. I am a busy person, so I didn't get around to re-ordering until early January. This time I was careful to include my doctor's number, fax a copy AND email it. A few days later, they sent me a computer-generated email telling me to fax the prescription. So I faxed it again AND emailed it again. Now it is almost February, and I haven't received any word back. When I log on to check my order status, it still says "RxDeclined". When I call their customer service number, I get put on hold. Lens.com is a shady, fraudulent company with no customer service at all. Furthermore, my email has been inundated with pharmeceutical spam ever since I placed an order with them. Although I cannot prove it, I am quite sure that they sold my personal information. Save yourselves. Buy your lenses elsewhere even if it costs 10x as much. You cannot put a price tag on aggravation and rage, which is all they will give you.

I should have read this forum before ordering. Here's my story.
I ordered 4 boxes of lenses on December 27th and paid $7.95 for 5-7 day shipping. After two weeks, I called to check the status and was advised the lenses had to be ordered (not sure why as my prescription is not an unusual prescription). Lenses finally arrived today, three weeks after ordering. Had I not called to check, no one at lens.com made an effort to advise me of the delay.
Secondly, the lenses seem to be produced for distribution in a country OTHER than the USA. There is writing of a foreign language (Korean) all over the box. These are obviously imported lenses and not sure if they technically are to be sold here in the U.S.
Thirdly, the $40 Accuvue rebate offered is only valid if you've had an eye exam within the past 90 days. This isn't clear in the order process. Since this order is a re-order of the same prescription, I didn't qualify for the rebate. Again, not fully clear during the order process.
Tried calling customer service to complain (6:45pm PST) and office is closed.
Save yourself the hassle and purchase your lenses elsewhere.

Now my first REGRET is not reading these reviews first. I am an international customer, and I ordered my lens on 2nd November, faxed the presciption on the 5th. Lens.com replied saying that it was shipped on the 8th of November 2007. To date, no contact lens ever showed up. They took my money for sure...... no one answers my emails, no one answers my calls. The lines are always busy, the voice prompts tells me to wait on the line with no response or it says "call back later". THIS COMPANY is FRAUDULENT. It has fake ratings on it. i want to devise a way to expose them.

I ordred some toric lenses from them last year and it took over 6 months for them to finally deliver. I wore the same pair for 3 months waiting and waiting for them to come. I called once a week every week and they said "they are coming". I finally broke down and paid full price at my doctors office.
A week after I paid full price at my doctors office they finally came.
It was not worth even saving the $100 that I saved to get them. It took forever and it was a pain!

My wife placed an order over the phone. Half the order was for lens power "-5.75" even though she stated her prescription of "-5.5" for both eyes.
Now we are having potential insurance problems. Trying to decide whether we should play ball with them, pay the shipping to return and then place a second order (they are the cheapest with the rebates). Seriously considering doing a credit card chargeback out of principle that they did not fulfill their end of the bargain and out costs and inconvenience are increasing uncomfortably.

Just recieved my contacts after submitting order online 3 days ago with no problems. Was a little disturbed about the handling fee, but did a coupon code google search and found one for free shipping which made it a little more managable of a charge. Product is fine although the packaging is a little odd, kind of when going to a discount store and all of the products you are familiar with are plastered with spanish labels. Seems these contacts were destined for an Asian country, but fell off the back of the boat.

TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ordered contacts, they sent me a box for one eye. I'm currently still waiting on the other box and it's now 2 MONTHS!!! Customer services gives me no information as to when i will receive my contacts. They even refuse to upgrade me to overnight shipping when they do get my contacts. Beware of the low prices, when you add items to the shopping cart, the low subtotal appears but then the grand subtotal box will be more than the sum of the items purchased. There is a tiny asterisk "*" in the subtotal box that most will miss. If you click on the *, it will pop up that this total includes a handling fee (no other details), you then have to search the FAQ's to find out "There is a handling fee that is applied to all orders. It is 6.5% of the product total and is included in the subtotal on the Final Shopping Cart Review page.
Most folks ordering many lens will miss this hidden adder. It's just deceptive!!!!!!!!! Shame on them for not having a seperate box denoting this additional, hidden fee. Why do business this way? Can't they compete honestly?????

Please stay away from Lens.com. I made a purchase from them because their prices were the cheapest. However, after a "handling fee" that I was not told about until after they had processed my credit card information, their prices were the same as other retailers. They made a mistake, sending me the wrong contact for my left eye, then said that it was not their mistake, and they wouldn't refund my money because the contact box had been opened. I was also out shipping for those boxes that weren't opened. After complaining, they offered to ship me new lenses overnight, for a reduced shipping cost. I made the mistake of agreeing, and found that my credit card had been charged the full price. The customer service representatives were very rude throughout. Lens.com also does not check your prescription with your doctor, if they had they would have realized their mistake.
Please stay away from Lens.com, I am sure any other online retailer would provide better and less deceitful service.

To start with I was not prepared for the $20 shipping and handling fee, and then when I attempted to exchange one box of lenses, first they raised the price $5, then they sent the same box of lenses to me three times with another $5.67 shipping and handling fee each time plus my postage to return it to them. They said they would pay my postage and not charge me s & h since it was their fault, but when I said they charged me and sent a copy of their e-mail saying they wouldn't, their reply was we do not refund shipping.

Recieved my lenses in 3 days even with the 5-7 day shipping. Even with the hidden handling charge they were 40% cheaper than I could find anywhere else. However, they didn't state that they were sending me foreign lenses which had no expiration date. If you're in a pinch money wise go ahead and buy from them. They should not hide their "Handling fee." Customers should not have to comb the website to read the fine print before placing an order. The invoide which you see should clearly say, "Handling fee" and the amount shhould be provided. I haste sneaky people and businesses !

I ordered 8 boxes of contact lenses and found they had added an $11 handling fee that was hidden in the total and not listed separately. I was told by their customer service representative that this was a handling fee and it was their practice to hide it this way. The rep did say that if I looked at their web site thoroughly I would find a mention of the fact that they sometime pad the bill with undisclosed handling charges. Customer service told me that their web site said there might be a handling fee. I think I should have been made aware that my order was the lucky one to get the handling fee. I waited so long for my order to be filled, I MAY have to get another eye exam to get my contacts somewhere else (I finally got tired of waiting and cancelled my order). If there was a less than 1, that is what I would choose. I ordered the contacts on May 25th, I cancelled the order on July 7th. I was told each week that they were expected with the next shipment on Monday. They told me that it was a "special order". Granted one eye has a strong astigmatism but I have never had difficulty getting orders filled in the past with other companies. The worst part about it...they acted as though they didn't care at all. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I couldn't have gotten less concern from them if they were trying. I've been in customer service for 18 years and I hope none of the people I dealt with at this company have to ever deal with anyone as rude or unhelpful as they were to me.
